I'M A TREE

Well I'm a tree
Tree! standing up tall, got some birds on my branches and some leaves on my arms

I'm a tree
Tree! bending down low, got some shade for the people when the wind makes me bow

In the springtime, these tiny buds pop out
drink the april rain that falls and get stronger without a doubt
then leaves of green will grow, and flowers start to bloom
before you know it i'm lush all over, as the calendar reaches june

Summer breezes in as calm as a little lamb
kids shimmy up my trunk and climb as high as they possibly can
then august sun beats down, and people run for cover
they lie down beneath my branches, and wait for the heat to be over

Then fall creeps up on me like a cat behind a bird
my leaves turn from green to yellow, red and orange- how absurd!
some of us grow apples you can pick and make a pie
and later on my leaves turn brown, and some fall off and die

Tree! standing up tall, gotta turn with the seasons but I still stay strong

Tree! bending down low, gotta sway with the rain and the wind as it blows

there's a storm, a storm a-comin'!!!
better run and hide for cover!!

Winter whispers in, the air is crisp and cold
I stand here without a leaf, but my branches are gray and bold
waiting for the snow to fall, I'll catch those flakes so white
turn into an icy statue, it's really quite a sight

You'll never guess what happens next! It's spring all over again
the children clap and sing- "let's go outside and play and run!"
i'll be right here waiting' for you, my branches like open arms
come and climb and swing, or take a rest, enjoy my charms…
